For reasons unknown, the rear calipers on these cars die early.
Clever practice is to consider/check their condition, carefully, at each pad renew.. these have history of siezing unexpectedly (to their owners at least).
Rebuild kits are fair priced and reasonably easy DIY on a not yet ruined caliper.
Healthy calipers wear their pads at approx 1/2 the rate of the fronts, as one would expect, given their contribution to stopping. Certainly mine always have.
But I've experienced couple of siezed ones .. years ago. Smoke, glowing discs.. quite dramatic.
Now I'm really fastidious with the pesky things.
