Most likely it is not a recalibration issue. What you describe is the default ACC start configuration. A low battery or disconnected battery will cause it to start in AUTO and try to get the cabin to the set temperature asap. If it is cold out, AUTO will turn on about every thing to clear the windows, mirrors, etc.
The ACC start configuration is programmable like others have written. With the key on, press buttons to select the start condition you want, I use ECON, no fan (press fan speed down button repeatedly until the fan is not running), and select the down triangle in the right column to direct the air on the floor. When the configuration is set, press and release the right top and bottom buttons simultaneously for a second. Turn the key off and wait for more than 4 minutes. When the key is turned on, the ACC should be in the configuration you just set.
In ECON (and AUTO) fan speed and air flow direction can be adjusted without unwanted functions automatically occurring. For A/C just press AUTO and the ACC will do its best to keep you cool.
