The 89 9000 ABS system is slightly different from the 93 900 ABS systm, but not enough to matter.
Have him start the car, but not drive it. If the ABS light and Brake light go out after 30 seconds, then have him drive the car. If just the ABS light comes on after a while, then it is a wheel sensor. Have him check the resistance on the sensors with a multimeter. (That is the difference part. On the 9000 the connectors are in the aquarium. I have no idea where they are on a 900, but I assume they are under the hood somewhere.) The resistance of the sensors should be around 1100 Ohms. If the sensors check out, then have him remove the sensors and clean them. The sensors can sometimes get stuck. If they do, try some penetrating oil and twist them slightly.
