I finally got the pump out. The tool pictured in the post below wouldn't have worked, even if I was able to get pipe that size (which I wasn't); the opening in the floor is only 4.5" wide, so no 5"+ diameter pipe would fit through there. I ended up fabricating a piece out of a 4" ABS drain flange and another fitting to make it longer, cut the flange end to 5.35" diameter, cut the 18 slots in it, then cut a notch out of the whole thing so that it would fit through the floor opening (imagine the side profile looking like pac-man). Even with a 24" bar through it, I could just barely get it moving, and I'm no wimp. Anyway...
Is it a bad idea to but just the pump? I'm looking at a price difference of $40-80 vs $250-500 for the full assembly. The fuel hose attached to the pump is hard plastic; I'm assuming it has to be cut off, and replaced with a rubber one?
