The battery cable is prone to internal corrosion. If the mechanic has confirmed that your battery is good, then one can measure the voltage at starter, where the red battery cable attaches. If it shows a value more than 2 volts less than what you get at the battery leads, your problem is the cable. You can trim off two inches of the cable at the battery end and re-attach it using a new battery cable clamp, making sure you get one that you can attach the cable to (some you can, but others seem to be attached permanently).
Or, if you see green corrosion (copper oxide) on the copper wire, right where the end of the red insulation comes to, then you might be able to skip the voltage measurements and just trim the cable. Mine had this problem, and when the cable was cut, it was full of corrosion, extending about two inches back into it.
