Who knows about clutch spring tension

The clutch pedal in my daughter's '96 is much stiffer than in my '96.
Her clutch operates fine, has about 80K on it. No changes in the past year.
My clutch was completely redone last June from the master cylinder to the tranny, all new parts. But the clutch is, and always has been, much softer than on the other car.
In looking at parts pictures, I'm sorta assuming it has to do with the spring on the clutch pedal. I'd like a firmer clutch in my car and my daughter wouldn't mind a softer one. I assume this is an awkward, annoying job, mostly due to access and having to work with one's head in the footwell with no room for one's arms. Any thoughts?
Note, this is way, way down the list of things to do, someplace above getting the lug nuts monogrammed and the underside of the car waxed.
