I've retrofitted several older cars (including my C900) to Duracool/Envirosafe and not had any leakage problems at all, and those systems work extremely well. My C900 practically blows ice cubes out of the vents even in very hot weather. Unfortunately that level of success with this 9000 has thus far eluded me.
I have dye in the system and will look for other leaks, but I know those schrader valves are not sealing well so might as well replace those while I'm working on it. Maybe what I can do is remove the valves and leave the system pulling vacuum while matching up replacements to prevent too much moisture from getting in. (From what I have read the PAG oil used in R134a systems is extremely hygroscopic and doesn't release the moisture when you pull vacuum later. Not to mention I don't want to ruin the new drier I put in last summer which was a bear of a job.)
Of course, I could just take the approach of topping the system off every few weeks. Envirosafe sells for about $50US a case (12 6 oz. cans), a little over $4 per can. If I had to top up with a can 4 or 5 times during the season that would probably be cheaper and easier than fixing the leak. :-) But there's other work to be done as well as this system still does not cool very well in hot weather even with a full refrigerant charge...
