Anders showed a small "rake" he uses via the drain plug hole to scrape about on the bottom of the pan to see if he can find debris - deposits. Try shining a light down the filler tube, or better yet rig up a small lamp on a wire and send it down the filler tube. Then look to see what can be seen through the fill tube and drain hole. May not show much, but at least you tried something. Endoscope is the way to go.
