I don't remember from one day to the other each Tech 2 screen from every model until I sit with it in my hand but one of the two is only for setting the Kick down motor on the auto.
If you see a code number on the screen and it says 971, that's for the KDW motor.
Code 974 is for resetting base idle for all models. and 973 is the command that starts the calibration after engine has been started.
The engine HAS to start up and run a little bit crappy (below normal idle) when the calibration command has taken place and then it should take off up to 3000 rpm and stay there for awhile.
If the engine starts up and run at about normal idle, the calibration command did not take and you have to start over.
So if yours starts crappy and then nothing, it might be a problem in the system that the ETS senses right away and stop the calibration from happening.
One time when the rubber diaphragm was broken, it took me awhile to figure it out because the calibration started up and idle started to climb but when it sensed the vacuum loss, it cancelled the calibration and triggered some codes.
