Thanks, I'll definitely have to give that a try. I think the OBD-I diagnostic connector is supposed to be under the passenger seat, though looking under there I don't see anything obvious. (There is what looks like a 10-connector wire harness and a couple of relays under there, but I don't see an open jack to plug into.)
I checked the throttle sensor with an ohm meter, not sure what the specs are supposed to be but I do get a resistance reading across any of the terminals, so there's no open or short circuit. When moving the throttle I get a smooth varying resistance across the outside terminals, so I don't think the sensor is actually bad. I did clean the contacts up and put some dielectric grease in the connector.
I'm really not familiar with OBD-I and there doesn't seem to be anything about it in the Haynes manual for the 9000. Is it necessary to clear the code or should it just "go away" on its own after fixing the problem? I guess to clear it you would have to disconnect the battery for a while?
