Auto trans dipstick LONG Posted by Stephie [Email] (#2399) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Stephie) on Thu, 13 Sep 2018 17:25:57 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have a 1995 9000 CDE 4 door sedan. This was originally sold with a 6 cylinder engine. The story is that the engine blew and the car sat in a barn for many years. This past year it got a 1994 4 cylinder turbo. It still has an auto transmission.
So . .The transmission dipstick handle is broken. I went to our local salvage yard and spent a good hour looking at 4 and 6 cylinder dipsticks. EVERY one was far longer than the one in my transmission. What gives?
Are there different auto transmissions? I am assuming that the original transmission stayed with the car. Perhaps it didn't. But I searched many different year SAABs and many different engines, both 6 and 4. ALL the dipsticks I found were much longer than the one in my car.
One further hint. The handle on all the dipsticks in the salvage yard were yellow or black. The dipstick in my car is green.
