I think you meant to say though, that you should try to keep any sound over 3000 Hz playing in the front, not the back. :) I agree though.
Madisound definitely is the place to get your speaker drivers (and just about any other component for speakers). Right now, they have a great deal on the Vifa D26NC tweeters, only $20 each. For front use, you can just buy them naked, or if you want to mount them flush by the rear reading lights like I did, the flush mount kit is an extra few bucks per side. Still cheap! They typically have a pretty good selection of stuff on sale, it's all on their web page..
The new back deck is a great idea, one I toyed around with many a time. I decided to go with a separate sub, as I could remove it for use somewhere else if so desired. However, you can get excellent results from two high quality 8" woofers in a sealed enclosure. While 6.5" may sound pretty close in size to 8", but it's actually about 40% smaller in cone area alone, which then must be multiplied by the excursion you lose..
Cheers,
Aaron
