The stock system in my 1992 9000T is not bad per se but it does have it's flaws. First off the front woofers are not that bad at all, but the tweeters really suck, and their in a bad location. If you wanted to detach the front tweeters, and a two way cross over and some quality tweeters that would help alot. Additionally the front stage gets about 25 watts max which works out to about 10 watts rms while the rear recieves about 50 watts max (20-25 rms) from an external amp. The reason they do this is because the rear can handle the full frequncey range much better than the front. If you use a passive cross over on the fronts they could take a lot more power. The rear speakers are pretty damn good for stock, put they don't do much good for the driver. The tweeter back their seems to be much better than the one in the front but the placement is bad. A transplant is possible but I think you'd be better off getting a $40 pair of vifa tweeter's from Madisound.
