Bill, the Clarion radios in the 91s and 92s are a nightmare. If this is the first failure you have had in 9 years then you have the best unit that Clarion ever built for SAAB!
Seriously, IMHO there are only three options: (1) Pay several hundred dollars to send the Clarions off for factory recon, after which you will still have a POS Clarion that will never sound good and will fail again in a few months, or (2) live with the defect (which I have done in my 92 for three years now) or (3) have an aftermarket stereo installed for as little as $120 -- maybe $220 if you have the crappy loudspeakers replaced, too -- and it will perform much better and will free up a DIN slot for a Taurus cupholder.
Just my own pessimistic view, others may be more encouraging!
Rafe
P.S. If you go the aftermarket route then it won't matter that you can never remember where you wrote down the radio code!
