Oh...just came home from Caribs to find out that somebody got into our collective garage and broke into my car.

They drilled trough all locks without luck and then crashed the window.
They took stereo , instrument stack with oil- and turbo-gauges and tools worth 500$ from the trunk. To make things even worse, car only had traffic insurance as i tought that locked garage will protect it enough. And i was stupid enough to leave stereo-plate in place instead of deattaching it which would save the car. Of course, junkie who did it won't get a dime for it as stereo asks for code as soon as you disconnect it from the battery.

Ohh crap.

Well, now the question:

The car is 9000T 85' and they were kind enough to go trough small glass-window behind the big movable one on back door. I need to replace that glass and i will try to find one at the junkyard. Has anybody replaced that before and what's the easyest way to get it out? I guess i should deattach the cover and then try to take out the main window?

Am i right?

Ahh...and now a few lessons learned so you guys don't commit the same mistakes as i did:

1. Take out stereo plate and store it on some place (at least under the seat), it will save your car.
2. Locked public garages aren't that safe as they allow thieves to work on the car much longer.
3. Do not leave garage-door key in the car oterwise you will end up without whole car insted of just stereo.
4. Do not leave things in the car...but that one you already know, don't you...
5. Insurance is almost always a good thing (unfortunately i didn't have my license long enough so full insurance would cost me more then the car over one year)
6. Funny enough, you can't drill trough a door lock on a 9k.

Well at least it still drives well. (And my crossdrilled discs and new pads finaly embeded right and now it stops on a dime).

Cheers.

P.S. I heard police got one thief as he stood in the broken garage-port window trying to get out but they didn't find any goods on the place. I will check it tommorow. He's lucky police saw him first.
