If maintained properly, it's not unusual to hear people on this BB
getting over 250k miles out of their 9000. I've heard of automatics
failing around 100k, but I've also heard others get 200k out of their
slush box. Like anything else, things do fail. There are a few
electrical components that have, shall we say, less than desirable
mortality rates? But on the whole, I would have to say that the Saab,
having a very advanced electronic design, in general, is no worse
than any other vehicle I've experienced. I'm of the opinion that the
9000's interior is a better design than the 9-5 - it's larger and the
Aero seats are almost worth the price of the vehicle, if one likes
solid comfort. If you think the car is a pleasure to drive, then I'd
stay put. The 9-5 Aero is nice, but IMHO, the '97 9000 has the
advantage of having 12 years of refinement/development.
