I sell new Audis and VW's for a living and count on your kind of thinking. People come in all the time all freaked out because they had some 4 or 500 dollar repair bill and want to buy a new car. So what do they do? They spend 15 or 20 THOUSAND dollars instead. I mean HELLO! Depreciation is the biggest expense associated with car ownership by far, but people only seem to think about the monthly payment, not the total amount they're actually spending. Even if the worst happened and you had to shell 2 or 3 grand for a transmission, how does that compared to $20,000? So what do people in the car business drive? My boss drives a 1992 Audi with 170,000 miles, another salesman drives a Mercedes with 240,000 miles, another has an Audi A4 with 130,000, and I have a Saab 9000 with 137,000 miles. In fact, every salesperson at our dealership drives a car with over 100,000 miles. I think the best think you could do would be to trade your car in at our dealership so I can buy it for wholesale and drive it for another 150,000 miles.
