Hmmm, so the service manager at my local dealer was wrong, didn't know what he was talking about, huh.

He told me that the way to access the fan for cleaning or replacement was to remove the blank cover which is to the left to the sensor (which is for something that my car doesn't have, but I don't know what), then pry out the sensor's cover, then the sensor and fan.

In other words, he led me to believe that you could do it from in front of the dashboard. Nothing about having to do it from behind.

Anyway, if and when my fan stops working, I wonder whether it will matter all that much. Why bother fixing. I mean, is the temperature in that little cave radically different than or uncorrelated with the temperature in the cabin? If it gets too warm or too cold, just adjust the digital temperature control, right? We do that anyway now. The digital temperature reading doesn't really reflect the actual temperature in the cabin, anyway. It's just a way of saying, "I want it to be hotter or colder than it is now", right?
