The exhaust system has to be taken apart to some extent, because the pipe from the center muffler (resonator) to the rear muffler goes up and over the rear axle. Either part the two pieces there, or remove the rear axle.
Whenever I need to replace one of the exhaust components, I usually just replace both. I've had most of my exhaust failures in the middle muffler, right at the exit pipe. I guess I could try and split it from the rear muffler and reuse the rear, but I never bother. I just jack up and support the left rear, pull off the LR tire, and use a sawzall to cut through the pipe between the middle and rear mufflers (watch out for the fuel tank). I soak the two nuts at the rear flange of the CC with Liquid Wrench for about a week before. The old exhaust comes right out, and I find it's easier to install a whole new exhaust than to try and match up the new and old.
jus' my opinion.
