Maurice, this is like the refrigerator light phenonoma. Does the light go out when the frig door is closed? Jump in, shut the trunk lid and find out. JUST KIDDING.
I have a 92 9K CD, and there is a micro switch located in the trunk lid mechanism. One way I test it is to open the trunk lid and with a screwdriver or such, make the mechanism close. If all is in working order, this will activate the micro switch and and light will go off. To open the mechanism back up, I just put the key in the drivers door and trigger the central locking system.
You may access this micro switch as follows:
1. Open trunk
2. Remove the plastic trunk pull down handle. (2 torx screws)
3. Remove plastic retainers on the trunk liner. (3top&3bottom)
4. Remove plastic boot covering the latch. (two metal taps hold it)
You should be able to see the microswith mounted inside. To get to it, you would have to remove the bolts holding the mechanism to the trunk lid.
Hope this helps
