why not put new cables on it anyway? and be sure to use good quality, actually might consider OE, definitely avoid the 'universal' cables though. Also consider going with an increase in gauge size on the positive side, like a 2 or 0 gauge. Chances are your car has the original 10 year old cables, should be replaced anyways.
Saabs are sensitive to batteries, put the best battery you can afford in it, some good cables, clean up the connection with carb cleaner by the starter, wipe it all clean, use a battery brush on your terminals if your battery is in good condition.
