Blinking SRS light, taken for a ride???

A few weeks ago I replaced the fuel pump in my 92 9KS with no problems. Part of the process is to remove the fuse and turn on the ignition to make sure it doesn't pump. Well, I accidently removed the fuse for the SRS system and turned on the ignition, according to the users manual when this is done the SRS light will blink steadily for 10 minutes then just stay on. According to the manual the "Car must be taken to the dealer to have the SRS reset", this is what I did. Please note that the SRS system was working perfectly with no problems before the fuse incident.
I took the car to the dealer and waited figuring it would be just a minute. I told the technician exactly what I did (he didn't seem interested) regarding the fuse. He proceeded to diagnose the system and stated that the SRS would not reset. He said the car needed a new sensor up by the right frint fender. Like a dope I said ok ($117). That didn't do anything. Next, he said the two SRS harnesses needed to be replaced at about $500. At this point I said whoa enough is enough. So the diagnosis time cost me $105 (1.5 hrs) along with a new sensor and the light still blinks.
I feel used. Is there anyone out there that can provide some guidance? Is there some checks that I can do. I have fixed just about everthing but this on this car so I am well skilled. I am not all that concerned about the SRS system working but I am giving the car to my nephew so I would like it to work for him. Thanks.
