Mine definately is further towards the wheel well, but I used a couple inches of the plastic pipe and used the stock clip-on setup to the AMM. Mine is past the I/C and in line with incoming cold air. In the rain I cover the opening on the front spoiler. In the hot summer days I use the stock neck and large collector inside the wheel well, and have the K&N cylinder half expose to incoming air from the spoiler, and the other half of the filtre drawing air in from the wheel well.
