Good thing this isn't really a TOTAL electrical failure, or the car wouldn't start or run!
I suppose it's conceivable that in the course of recovering the seats, the power window wiring was pulled loose (not easy to do, but I guess anything is possible with trained gorillas).
However, I believe the second place you took it to, should make things right. I'm not sure if this is a law, though it seems as it should be, that when you take your car to a repair shop, they are obligated to not make it worse. Doesn't mean they can always fix the problem you brought it in for, but if you paid for some work to be done, you should at least be able to drive out of there with things in the same condition as when you drove in!
If none of the offending systems which are now non-functional had symptoms before taking it in, I would say there's an extremely high probabability that they didn't know what they were doing, screwed something up, and should make it right. '86 and '87 9000s do have I think more than other years in terms of electrical gremlins and common problems, but in my experience, few of them manifest as outright and sudden failures, and certainly not in several systems all at the same time.
Forgive me for stating the obvious, but have any fuses blown in all this?
This is just one reason I try to do all my own electrical work, but then again, most trained gorilla don't have an electronics degree as I do. I once had a shop try to tell me that there was a malfunction in the circuit between the alternator and the battery light in the dash. In my experience, it seemed like I just needed a new brush pack/voltage regulator, or at worst, a new alternator. But NO, they assured me that the problem was in the wiring, and I was putting my life at risk by not fixing it, the car would catch fire etc... Gee, four years later, after replacing the voltage regulator, my car hasn't caught fire yet and all the electrical systems, including the alternator, are working just fine thank you!
