Adam,
I should check your wheel balance as the old bushes could have been taking out the vibration you are now feeling. I had my wheels balanced at the same time as the toe-in checked. If you had your car aligned they would have checked the toe-in, so that should be OK. Standard spec is OK too.
As for top engine mounts I initially replaced both. A friend of mine was interested and he had the standard rubber mounts, so we just swapped over the easily removable part of the top mount that holds the rear mount. So he has the poly bush at the rear and I now have the front one. As for which one is best we haven’t tried each others cars enough to gauge but we think mine set-up is possibly better. Saying that if I was doing it again I would change the rear bush as it’s easiest to get at, although difficult to push the old on in. The front mount bracket also holds the alternator on so the serpentine belt needs to come off to remove it!
Let us know how you get on.
