Stock pads perform and last reasonably well, but leave excessive dust and sometimes squeal. I don't know about rotor wear, as I haven't used them long enough to find that out. When I received my '95 Aero in '99, the second act I performed after changing the oil was to replace the front pads to Axxis/PBR Deluxe, as the stock units squealed and left excessive dust on the wheels. The stock rear are still on the car and will be 'til they wear out, as dust isn't a big factor on the rear.
I've been using Repco (now Axxis or PBR) Deluxe for about 25 years: Excellent performance, low rotor wear, decent pad life, no squeal, inexpensive, and LOW DUST! I have never replaced a rotor on any of my five Saabs, and traditionally get pad life of 50k front, 70k rear. I can't discern a difference in performance compared to stock, but all other factors above are superior to stock in my experience.
Based on experience with EBC Kevlar pads on my Harley, however, I may go to EBC Greenstuff pads next and break my 25-year-old tradition.
