I have just had the balance and timing chains changed together with the sprockets, guides and tensioners at 138,500 miles. No its not cheap but the job is now done and all the cheap chain replacement 2yrs ago (by the previous owner) did was delay the inevitable. By the look of the parts it was caught just in time. The bits you can see by just rolling in a new chain tend to be the bits that don't wear so much. IMHO think twice about going down the 'changing just the chain' route. From this bulletin it appears that '91, '92 were not good years for timing chains and associated parts. Have a search back into the archive for more info/opinions.
