The low-speed relay and the fog light relay are close enough for testing. It can also get you home.

#4 above confuses me, and unfortunatly #3 does not preclude the temp sensor failing.

In my 91 9kt there was nosubstitute for lying on the floor and separating the sensor's harness, behind the RH fog light. My car no longer has the pan that goes below the radiator, so I needed no tools nor jeck to get to this plug. Your story might be sadly different. Take heart: My pan was removed and left off by one of the best Saab indies I've ever met, you MIGHT want to consider making this the last removal. (Advice to the contrary by other Saabnetters is most HEARTILY welcomed)

Once the plug's apart, short the BLACK and BLUE wires together, the low speed fan should come on. (Ignition is on for this test, engine need not be running) If you short BLACK to BLUE and WHITE, then the HS fan start.

Note that apparently you are NOT supposed to run the HS fan without the LS fan already engaged. Hmmm, I cannot figger out why, but it sure as heck blew the HS fuse every single time when I was testing. Ate up a LOT of fuses like that...

BTW, there is NO suitable spare for the HS fan relay in the car, the wider blades would seem to be a warning about how much current it draws. According to Alldatadiy, the HS fan also has TWICE the cabling of the LS fan circuit. When I tried to shor it for testing it nearly melted the 20 ga. wire...
