How to find the cable ... Posted by Gerry [Email] (#1840) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Gerry) on Mon, 2 Apr 2001 21:23:06 In Reply to: Re: CD Changer (long), steve, Sun, 1 Apr 2001 15:52:32 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Thanks Steve, I am in the middle of this process, and I am glad to hear that the cable is NOT connected to the back of the radio; now I have to pull the radio out. (Question: Is this easy to do with a pair of coat-hangers ? My first attempt failed miserably, and Radio-Shack does not carry the Pullers).
You will probably not be able to find the cable in the trunk by feeling down towards the wheel-well at the speakers, but it is there somewhere, unless someone removed it. The best way to find the cable is: remove the four "screws" that hold down the plastic channel exactly where the hatchlid meets the body (above the rear license plates); then remove the two plastic "screws" (sorry, I have not looked at this problem for a few weeks, and I am not sure how to describe these "screws") just to the left (rear of the left tail-light), and then you will be able to fold up the carpet a bit. Push your hand(s) in at 45 degrees towards the rear of the wheel-well, and you should soon find the circular 12 (or 13) pin cable head. Using the torx screw from your Saab trunk tool-kit, the whole operation should take you less than 5 minutes.
Good luck with the changer. The only thing I know is that (at least for mid 90's models) the factory radio will recognise 6 cd's; if you use a 12 -cd unit, it will only operate half of them.
