solid torque mounts

hello.. I made the mistake of putting solid aftermarket upper engine mounts in my 1987 9000 Turbo. Now she shakes a whole lot at low RPMS. Un-fun. I was thinking of going ahead and re-replacing one of them with an OEM with the gaps for a little movement, but then I thought about drilling a few small holes in the rubber in hopes of giving it a little more "give". Is this a completely stupid idea? Way I figure... the worst it could to is fail again and I'd have to put an OEM in anyway. Any advice is most appreciated.
Also, I've recently replaced both hydraulic mounts (with hydraulic mounts) as well as the uppers. The uppers made a huge difference in shifter movement as far as kicking back with clutch operation, but it still moves noticably when hitting bumps in the road/on the interstate. Could this be the transmission mount that needs replacing next?
Thanks much
Matt
