Hello all. Silly me, I actually posted a question asking whether valve damage was inevitable when the timing chain broke on a '92 9kt I bought recently. Ok, so I have a few slightly bent valves, the timing is stuck down in there, there is a broken guide, etc, etc, you all know it better than I do.
So anyway, I am too cheap to buy a manual to figure out what all parts have most likely been damaged, but from the Townsend site, I am pro'lly looking at 800 bucks worth of parts to do the job right. So my question is, should I just purchase a used engine for 1200 (from a swarthy guy who says "70k miles" on it) and make sure I get a reasonable (30 days) guarantee, and make sure the timing chain is ok, or just fix what I have?
FYI- 1992 9000t. The car has 146k on it, was maintained by a doctor, looks very nice, especially with those Aero rims...
Thanks, BigTim
