Well, after reading the other posts here, I don't feel so bad about the gas prices in the Phila. area. I just paid $1.68 for 89 octane at my local AMOCO station, where regular (87 octane) was available for $1.58. Closer to Philadelphia I have seen regular for $1.52.
I have used both regular (87 oct) and mid-grade (89 oct) in my 1996 9000 CS. The car seems to run fine on regular, but I think it performs slightly better on the 89 octane gas - by "performs" I mean slightly quicker acceleration. Mileage seems slightly better on 89, too, although I've never run a "official" milage test comparing the two - you would have to drive exactly the same routes and speeds on both octanes, and I don't have the time to do that.
