Hey captain,
I am in the midst of doing my a/c right now as well. And hinestly for a 1,000 you could get a whole new a/c system with every component in it! I woudl go to a more qualified shop if i were you. Surely i would chnage the reciever drier and expansion valve, not expensive pieces at all and if you system doesn't leak just refiill it. best of luck,
