Took my car to indy mechanic and he did it all with impact wrench. Bought new seal and o-ring for oil pump both for about $12 from sobstory.
Indy did it all in about 45 minutes- maybe a little more. The o-ring was brittle and he scrapped it out carefully as not to etch the metal. He cleaned it in solvent tank. Seal was pushed in carefully so that it was straight. He did not prime the oil pump. The job can be done without draining the car's oil supply- just a cup pours out of the oil pump.
The only reason I did not do the job was the torque required to get the main pulley nut off and on again. Very straight forward otherwise.
Behind the pulley, I believe there are seven or eight hex head cap screws holding the oil pump cover on- keep track of the lenghts of these and where they go back- they vary.
I am delighted with my non-oil dripping '89 cd turbo now. I replaced my front motor mount too- the oil had eaten it away!
