Dave, I just bought the same model/year car ~3 months ago for about $1k more than your paying. I was in a hurry--my last Saab was totaled (wild cab driver) and I was carless. It wasn't a bad price, nor was it good. I'm extremely happy with the '94 9KCSE, though. I've owned 3 classic 900s prior to this (not to mention 10+ more old Saabs that my folks owned over the years), and the 9K is the most comfortable Saab I've ever driven.

I think the price is decent, especially if the dealer is willing to work with you on small details after you buy the car. Saabs are expensive to fix unless you're a DIY'er. I put ~$1k into the car after I bought it to bring it up to speed. Keep that in mind.

Is the car auto or manual? I think most folks on this bb will tell you to shy away from auto trannies. Also, check to see if it has TCS (traction control system)--it's known to have quirks, too. Check for oil leaks, check Direct Ignition cassette for oil leaks (~$300 part), drive and see if it's getting full turbo boost, check ACC for functionality, check electronics such as windows, sunroof, locks, etc, check cruise control, too.

Anything you can find before buying it gives you a little more leverage with the price. I didn't find many of my car's quirks until I was mid-way back from buying it on a 1000 mile journey! Lots of records are important! That's your best link to the car's history.

Hope this helps. Best of luck to you!
