The canister is best seen by removing the right front turn signal assembly. One screw is visible from directly above it, and then the thing slides forward. There are three electrical connectors - label them before removal, as it is not obvious afterwards which ones they go to. If your canister hasn't been replaced in the last 60k miles or 100k km, they aren't too expensive (http://www.sobstory.com - about $46 if you're in the US). You can test the vacuum lines for leaks by pulling off both ends, holding the other end with a finger and forming a vacuum with your mouth. The vacuum should hold with your tongue held on the end and release when you pull your tongue off. Alternatively, a vacuum gauge (Mighty-Vac) should do the same thing and is also handy for other things.
