Hooter Valve, Pain in A** for Filter Replacement

Ohhh, so is that what that [A] is. All I know is that that !@#$% thing kept me from being able to do a simple DIY job, namely, replacing the air filter. There was just no !@#$% way that I could get the filter out, let alone put a new one in, without disconnecting the hose from [A] to the metal intake tube. And even though I loosened the hose clamps, I didn't feel that I could disconnect the hose (very tight), let alone put it back. So, frustrated and fearful, I just let the dealer do the air filter replacement. According to the mechanic, he had to disconnect [A], although how he did it, I don't know.

BTW, there is something close by [B] that also has three hoses connected to it, although the hoses are the same size. All three hoses seem to go to the same point, so I kinda have to wonder... But [A] seemed to fit your description of hooter valve better than [B].
