Bob- some consider my comments as somewhat biased, since I've been using and selling AMSOIL for about 24 years now, so take them as you will.
AMSOIL is better than Mobil 1, which is a fine lube. If you compare specs, AMSOIL has the advantage. AMSOIL pioneered extended drains almost 30 years ago. I know a number of folks who used Mobil 1, tried AMSOIL, and (for the most part) stuck with AMSOIL. I also know a few who went from AMSOIL to Mobil 1--primarily because they were unable to accept extended drain and could save about $10 a year using Mobil 1 with shorter drains.
Last week, two former users of Mobil 1 related what they found after changing to AMSOIL Series 2000 0W-30. The first, a small engine mechanic, picked up about 50 miles per tankful of gas in his Toyota. The second, with an older Bronco, saw his highway mileage go from about 26 to about 30 mpg on an extended trip. Obviously, the results are not going to be the same in all cases.
Either is a good choice.
