Well, isn't that pretty. Look at mine, original, seven years old, 75k miles. Is this the mount that is called the "dogbone"? It is on the passenger side. Being new to mounts, this is the first time that I've really noticed and checked it. The rubber, or whatever that is that is inside, looks way cracked, big gaping holes. So big that I have to wonder what's holding the center bolt in the center. I haven't removed the right front tire to check the other (lower) mount that I understand is there somewhere (as explained in Quasi web site), but I suppose it is way cracked as well.
How critical of a problem is this? Do I have to do something about this ASAP? Or can I go on for, say, 30k or even 100k more miles? Replacing the mounts doesn't look like a simple DIY job. I guess the best way is to buy all the new (and this time non-rubber) mounts at the same time and hand them over to an independent shop to replace them all, right? Or should one wait until some other more important, major engine work and piggyback the replacement of the mounts on that?
