If it has been used, but not abused.
Aeros are just like any other Saab with the exception they have a tendancy to get one's juices flowing a little quicker.
* Look for the service records and maintenance work.
* Research the VIN for accidents/history and owners.
* Be prepared to spend a little more for fuel and tires.
* Be prepared to use better than normal plug service and watch the gap closely if you plan on using the car hard.
* Look the car over carefully, it would be well worth the trouble and investment in a Saab inspection and research on recalls. If it is at a dealership- get another opinion, just to keep everyone honest.
Don't buy the Aero just because it is an Aero, buy it because it is a good used Saab, the Aero part is icing on the cake. The best aeros were later in the production, as are the basic Saabs because the engineering improves with the model. 931/2 was the first official Aero and 97 was the last. 95 and up had an improved gearbox and improved clutch plate but TCS went away, some think that is good, personally I missed it. I believe if the car is a quality car you should be happy. It is extremely roadable and comfortable and as you said is a GF car (goes Fast!)with no unusual quirks.
Good luck.
