I didn't drive my car for 7 days and went to start it, dead. Turned out that the battery was dead (probably due to the alarm system - red blinking light). Got it jumped on Saturday - working fine. Mechanic tested the battery and said it was fine - if I kept driving for a while, the battery would be recharged. All day Sat and Sun it was fine. Then, Sun afternoon, the key was left in the ignition in the "on" position (wherein, the radio could be turned on without the engine being on). This wasn't realized until Mon A.M. - again, battery dead. It was jumped Mon. afternoon but when I tried turning the car on at 10 P.M., no go. I jumped it again this morning and drove it 1 hour 15 minutes to work. (haven't checked it again) Here is my issue: Now the SRS light is on (never been on before) and the CD player/changer I had installed 1.5 years ago, isn't working. It's hooked up through my radio w/ an FM Modulator (they're both Clarion). A) COuld that battery have caused the SRS sensor to go awry? B) The battery obviously affected the Modulator for the CD player. Can I buy a new modulator w/out buying a whole new system? C)Is there probable cause to think it's an alternator problem seeing as how my battery has died at least 2 times due to prolong drainage?
The battery is just 1 year old. Thank you ever so much! This bulletin board is quite helpful!
