There is a trick to removing the mirror switch with out damage.Just grasp the selector lever for left or right adjustment and pull it off/away from the switch plate, then remove the sponge rubberpad/gasket.Now with the tip of a small blade flat screw driver, move the catch lever(which now can be seen) that holds the switch plate inplace towards the rear of the car and now the front edge of the plate releases free. Then rotate it away from and out of the door panel, and then towards the front and it's out with no marks anywhere.Have seen a lot of damaged switches where they have been removed wrong.Hope this helps.
