Aero still "windy" (long-ish)

Following my previous post about my "windy" sounding '96 Aero (see below), the problem is still there, and perhaps getting slightly worse.

The symptom is a sound like wind whistling through the trees, only on boost, and rising in volume and pitch as boost increases. I can still get full boost, but I don't feel the turbo is spooling up as quickly as it should (or used to). It only starts well after the engine has reached normal temperature, then is there constantly until the car is left to cool.

The sound is easily loud enough to hear with the windows closed, whereas the hiss of the bypass valve is only audible with the windows open.

What I've checked so far:

PCV valve (thanks, Jeff Malin).

Replaced all the vaccuum hoses (except the one going to the cruise control, I think, but cruise works fine and that hose looks to be in very good condition).

Replaced the bypass valve (dump valve) with a known good unit.

Tightened all hose clips from the turbo to the throttle body (except the clip for the hose feeding the intercooler as I couldn't reach it with a screwdriver, but the clip feels tight).

Checked all the rubber hoses between the turbo and the throttle body for splits or holes, largely by feel, so I may have missed something.


I'm sure I have a leak somewhere in the induction system between the turbo and the throttle body.
Unless I've missed something, which is likely, I'm left with the intercooler. Has anyone come across an intercooler leak on a 9000?
