It is the little fan that used to always come on when the compressor engaged which one can view through the grill. I am getting good cooling from a/c without this fan function and I want to make sure I'm not in danger with excessive pressure.
The main big radiator fan is working wonderfully- my heat gauge stays at 9:00 even in the Miami heat.
I noticed this whole problem after running the car dead due to alternator being shot. I have had the alternator replaced and wonder if there could be any relation to A) the car trying to do electrical functions from the battery as all electricity ran out until I had to coast to a stop and get towed B) the mechanic physically disconnecting a wire during the procedure although I don't think he would be anywhere near the a/c compressor and it's connectins.
I drive an '89 cd turbo with the two speed main cooling radiator fan.
I had the a/c converted over to new freon system two years ago
