I never take my 9000 to the "major canadian chain - tires", except for tires. If the price is good, I bring them the wheels, not the car. However, I did take my wife's 900T in recently for a wheel alignment after I had replaced a broken passenger side control arm. They refused the aligment after finding a bad wheel bearing and a loose tie rod end. They were chagrined when I apologized to them (I should have checked everything), took the car home and replaced both items. Then I brought the car back to them, and they did the alignment (I did have to ask for the printout). The printout appeared OK. At home, I lifted the front end for a good look, and noticed that I could move the right upper control arm by yanking on the (road)wheel. They hadn't tightened the bolts after shimming the arm! So, I tightened them myself, took the car back, explained, saw their technician looking really pissed off, but they realigned it and this time gave me a printout without me having to ask for it. At home, I checked everything, found nothing wrong. Next day, my wife noticed steam coming up from under the hood whenever the car was running warmer than normal. I thought, possible hose-clamp? I ran up the temperature, and suddenly a thin stream issued from a hole in the upper rad hose and landed on the exhaust manifold. after cooldown removed hose, cut out offending portion and examined it under dissecting microscope. My "forensic analysis" says hose in excellent condition, but with careful stab wound from the outside. I didn't bother going back to complain - they'd just claim wear and tear, but I suspect malfeasance. This chain has occasional specials on well designed, quality tools (lifetime warranty, half the price of Snap-On, Mac). I'll buy those, but won't let them touch our cars.
