Just got back from Pike's Peak, camped out the night before the hill climb up above treeline (well, camped in - I've never seen firsthand how much room my 9000 has until last night when I slept comfortably in the back). Got to see Per Eklund race up the hill in his "Saab 9-3" (a racecar that looks like a Saab 9-3 and has it's engine block and head, not much else). Quite fun to watch, Eklund didn't beat his time from last year since the course had just gotten rained on, but it was fun to watch him powersliding through all the turns, as the picture and animation below show.
This was also a 300-mile round trip for me, so I got to find out how the new Abbott Mount feels. There was no noticable differance in shift quality, except that the problems I've had getting into 5th abated some (new shift coupler on the way, probably the problem). There was less engine movement when getting on and off the gas, though still too much for my liking... I'm going to check all other mounts soon. Finally, there was a bit more vibration, noticable only at idle and above 3500 RPM. The idle vibration manifested itself as a bit more steering-wheel vibration, while above 3500 rpm, i could "feel" the engine more through the wheel and the seat. Not really a bad thing IMHO, it's very slight and gives just a little feeling of power... the vibration when I turn my stereo up is much more noticable.
