...to install a tee and properly (back)flush the cooling system, as suggested in Quasi web site? I'm a bit wary of cutting things that were not originally cut. I'm sure I'm missing something, but what? In my primitive understanding of the coolant path, it seems to me that one can flush the system in two ways:
1) Run engine with water or flushing fluid for a short time. Drain. Repeat a few times.
2) Open drain. Disconnect top hose at thermostat end. Direct garden hose into open end of top hose. This will flush the radiator. Then remove thermostat (because I assume it is closed at room temperature). Reconnect top hose at thermostat end, with thermostat removed. Disconnect top hose at radiator end. Direct garden hose into open end of top hose. This will flush the engine part of the coolant circuit.
If one does (1) and/or (2), will that not be a thorough flush of the system? Why will (1) and/or (2) be insufficient?
