And if you don't do it now, it'll be more hassle to do it later. If you don't do it soon enough, you'll have the head off again for a rebuild after the chain breaks.
In other words, unless you really can't afford it now and it makes better financial sense to you to leave it a little while, then pay for the extra dismantling again as well as what you'd have to shell out now, I'd bite the bullet and do it. Whatever, do it soon if it's really on the way out.
Make sure, though, that it really is going. Is this your own observation or did a dealer tell you this? If a dealer, do you trust them not to rip you off? Why do they say it is going?
If you're happy it needs replacing, then if it really sounds too expensive to replace, then the other alternative is cut your losses and scrap the car before you pay for the head work. That would be rather drastic, though, and a last resort.
