Sounds like high pressure

It sounds to me like it is venting from a high pressure relief valve. This can be caused by a blocked expansion valve or blocked filter dryer, though this should (but not always) cause the high pressure switch to shut it down. You could also have a internal failure of the output hose from the compressor or internal failure/blockage of the compressor. Clear as mud eh? It could be a failure of the valve, but this ussually only occures after it has been activated by a high pressure event. About all you can look for without all the tools is frost forming at some point on the output line where it is blocked or on the filter/dryer, indicating it is blocked. Does the compressor sound like it is placing an extra load on the engine or trying to slip its belt? these are 2 more possible signs of high pressure.
