Never thought I'd get a chance to contradict AG but in my experience (94 9KT) my Saab appreciates a higher octane petrol and after doing all the figures it is actually cheaper to do so in the long run. In Australia anyway the better octane petrol costs about 6% more than ordinary fuel. The increased performance is noticable and at the end of the day you get more bang for your buck.
I get at least an extra 80 kms further on a tank of high octane.....give it ago and the beauty of Saabs is that you can use all the whizzbang instruments to tell you how you are going. Another "test" is to watch the "average fuel consumption" drop over a period of time.....You should notice a drop of about .5 - 1 drop (litres per 100)
